About Me

My name is Liah English and I am an illustrator, designer and animator from Coventry, England. The goal of my work is to put a smile on people’s faces, while corporate design is well within my reach, I aim for the work I create to excite and nurture imagination in my audience, often drawing inspiration from cartoons and comics that encapsulate the nature I envision in my own work. Growing up with a lot of conflicting media and art surrounding me, taught me to appreciate the escapism that comes with imagination, when I create something I want to be able to transport someone to a different perspective, to literally be able to escape the thought they were stuck in.

While I am comfortable working with traditional and digital media, I prefer to work digitally and find that I can incorporate themes and techniques from both digital and traditional media, into my digital work. My art style is semi-realism, with stylistic choices that prevent the work from becoming too realistic for my cartoon influences. There are themes and elements I like to work with occasionally, but I generally avoid gore and horror themes in my day to day work, as I present myself and my work as family-friendly.

Through my work, I seek to push the boundaries of what semi-realism can look like and utilise the digital workspace I am provided with to incorporate both traditional and digital elements within my work. I believe versatility is a staple to surviving within the industry and challenging myself to bring something new to every project, exploring techniques and software that I may never have used otherwise.
